Ministries

The celebration of liturgies here at St. Francis requires the commitment of many people. The first ministry of all is that of the assembly, the congregation of faithful who come together in praise and worship. This ministry is supported by many specialized ministries that require various degrees of training and time commitment. Each weekend liturgy at St. Francis requires the help of at least 18 volunteers. That means a minimum 54 individuals every weekend. If you would like to offer your time through one of these ministries you can do it through the yearly offering of Time and Talent in the Fall, or by contacting one of the worship team at the parish office (456-6394).

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist - Those who help to distribute the eucharist at liturgy. They must receive training from the archdiocese and a mandate from the archbishop.

Lectors - Those who proclaim the word at the liturgy

Hospitality Minister / Ushers – Those who welcome people to St. Francis and help them to feel at home

Servers – Those who assist at the altar

Music – Those who help to support the singing of the assembly in the choir and through other forms of music

Art and Environment – Those who support the assembly through the enhancement of our space through the visual arts

Sacristans – Those who oversee the preparation of the liturgy and coordinate the other ministries

Presider – Those who lead the assembly in prayer. At the eucharist this is always a bishop or priest.

Deacon – Those who assist by proclaiming the gospel and assisting at the altar
